Actual
News:
* Mid-August the 31 squadron said goodbye to one of their pilots. Dirty left the squadron and will go fly the Embraer.
* From the 30th of August until the 24th of September two pilots of the 31 squadron participated the Tactical Leadership Porgramme (TLP) 2004-4 at Florennes.
* On the 30th of August 4 F-16's of the 31 squadron left for Schleswig, Germany to participate in the Nato TigerMeet 2004.
* During the spottersday the Belgian 31 squadron pleased the audience by giving nice low-level flyby's and giving all spotters a chance to take pictures while they taxied past the crowd. Each squadron always tries its best to bring at least one two-seater to NTM. The squadrons then trade backseat rides, so there is usually plenty of opportunity to “check out the competition”. This is one of the best customs. When the FB-22 of the 31 sqn passed by, the backseat pilot even took pictures of the spotters...
Unfortunately the FA-87 with special painted Tigertail had a problem and had to be placed in maintenance, therefor not seen at the spottersday.
The 31 squadron also brought along two special painted cars, a Jaguar (just like last year) and a van.
* The 4 F-16’s of the 31 sqn who participated in the annual Nato Tigermeet returned home. They were at Schleswig-Jagel airbase, Germany from the 1st until the 6th of September. The squadron made an astonishing achievement by winning the ‘Silver Tiger Trophy’ for the second time in a row. The already won the STT in 1978, 1984, 1994, 1996, 1997 and 2003. This year there was an ex aequo with the German 321 squadron and because the 31 sqn already took their award home last year, the German pilots are taking it home with them.
The fact that the Belgian squadron managed to win the award 7 times already, with 5 times in the last decade, no further proof is needed for the dedication and professionalism of the pilots and ground crews of this famous Belgian airbase.
* On the 17th of September the CRC opened its doors. 4 F-16's of the 31 squadron gave a flyby that day.
Also pictures were added to the following articles that were already published on the website:
* John Vandebosch wins Paul Bowen Solo Jet Trophy
* Fraternization with the French 1/12 squadron (1)
I have made some more adjustements to the webcodes. Now on the news-page, the new and updated articles are already shown in a list. vs 23 Devil sqn:
Tigers are an endangered species, but it has not always been like this. In the old days it happened a lot one (or more) tigers became an eager target of the 23 Devils squadron. Do notice this friendly rivalry between the two squadrons resulted in an ever improving operational spirit in the 10th Wing. Some anecdotes you can now read on the website.
