Hi, first time here, so a little bit unexperienced. I like to have some info. Next week i will spend a few day's in Cochem, Germany. I whould like to go to nearby Buchel to have a look over there. Can annywhone thell me if its possible to spot and are there eventually spottingplace's. On the way to Cochem i will pass at Spangdalhem. What's the spottingpolicy there, or is spotting there out of the question.
Thanks verry much

Hello Jake, I have no info on Buchel but maybe I can help you a bit with Spangdahlem. First of all: a lot has changed since 9/11 . Even before that SP was not an easy base to spot . The base lies on a hill so every spot outside the base is lower than the base itself. Aircraft landing on RW 05 can be seen from the road linking Binfeld with the twin villages of Spang and Dahlem. This is situated on a busy road so the police will see you pretty quick . The 23 approach can be reached by a track originating northeast of Dahlem. This is in a forest an I did not visit this myself. A track near Binfeld approaches the southern side of the runway. There used to be some kind of spotters corner over there not far from a footbal field. Here you had a view of the whole runway and the A-10 shelters. However: there has been some construction going on lately in this area and previous reports on MSF showed that there should be some kind of soundwall in this area . Hopes this helps.
