News
* The Air- and Land Force of Defense had low flight exercises above the Province of Luxembourg from the 9th until the 13th of May. The flights at low altitude were part of the exercise 'Poppy Red 04' where pilots work with the 'Forward Air Controllers' who guide the planes to their target. Ground objectives were in two operation zones which overlap above Bertrix airport.
* On the 9th of May the 7 F-16's return from Balikesir, Turkey. 14 pilots and over 30 others (crewchiefs, Line & Armament...) participated the Nato Tigermeet 2005 for one week. Same as last year the Belgian 31 Tigers were awarded with the second most important trophy: Best Flying Squadron! This award means operationally they remain at the top. Tiger pilot 'Igor' gave me 6 nice pictures to go with the article.
* On Saturday the 14th of May the 31 squadron received a scramble on QRA (Quick Reaction Alert). 31 sqn handeled the scramble.
* When 31 was on QRA (Quick Reaction Alert), on Sunday the 15th of May they performed a fly-past in Gebloux for a World War II memorial.
* On Friday the 20th of May ATCC (Air Traffic Control Centre) opened its doors for the public. A fly over by 2 F-16s of the 31 Tiger squadron was in behalf of the 10 Tactical Wing.
* From the 18th of April until the 10th of June the Aircomponent of Defence holds its annual intercontinental training period in the United States of America and Canada. From 30 May until 10 June the 31 Tiger squadron is participating Maple Flag after the 2nd Wing already did so from 16 until 27 May. After the CCS, on the 11th of June, the 10 F-16s will be flown back to Belgium. They will make a stop in Bangor, on the 12th they will land in Belgium. <br>

* Peter Verheyen is one of the painters (together with Johan Wolfs) that make the wonderfull Tiger schemes for 31 sqn since 1991. He was willing to give a small interview on the subject.
